Middle and Secondary Level Piloting Opportunities in Practical and Applied Arts, January to June 2022

Please work with your school division or First Nations education authority to request a nomination for this opportunity.

The following Practical and Applied Arts curricula are being piloted during the 2021-22 school year:

  • Marketing 20;
  • Agriculture Business 30 (replacing Agriculture Studies 30); and,
  • Agriculture, Food Sustainability and Security 20, 30. 

School divisions and First Nations education authorities are invited to nominate teachers to pilot these curricula either as pure PAA course(s) or as modules within a middle level or secondary PAA survey courses. Pilot teachers will also evaluate and recommend resources. All pilot teacher meetings will be virtual. 

The Ministry of Education will reimburse substitute teacher costs for one pilot teacher per curriculum for each school division and First Nations education authority; if modules are piloted in survey courses, the ministry will fund one middle level and one secondary level teacher for each school division and First Nations education authority. School divisions and First Nations education authorities are welcome to nominate additional teachers at their own expense. Note that teachers should not submit nominations themselves. 

This work aligns with Inspiring Success: First Nations and Métis PreK-12 Education Policy Framework, in which the Ministry of Education commits to working collaboratively with all educational partners to strengthen relationships and achieve an equitable and inclusive system that benefits all learners. 

School divisions and education authorities are invited to submit nominations by December 17, 2021.
