Supporting Indigenous Ways of Knowing in Mathematics – Elementary
Hosted by: Regina Public School Division
Join us for an interactive two days as we explore how educators can authentically support Indigenous Ways of Knowing in their Mathematics classrooms. These sessions were created in partnership with educators from both the Provincial and First Nations systems working alongside Elders and Knowledge Keepers. The sessions allow for educators to experience traditional teachings alongside reflection on educator practices in mathematics. Sessions will be available at the High School, Middle Years and Elementary levels. These sessions support the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action (62, 63).
Participants will:
- Experience traditional teachings and make connections to mathematical practices, curriculum and assessment in the classroom.
- Explore Indigenous Worldviews and potential pathways to Two-Eyed Seeing in education.
Audience: Teachers, Educational Support Staff, Administrators
Two-Day Workshop Cost (includes GST, materials and lunch):
- Early Bird: $250 (prior to 10 business days before event)
- Standard: $300
