Trauma-Sensitive Practices: Supporting Early Learners Through Play

This session offers educators the opportunity to explore the effects of trauma on the minds, bodies and interactions of young children and ways to offer trauma sensitive environments and practices that support the learning of all students.

Participants will:

• Deepen their understanding of trauma, associated neurological and physiological responses and how they may appear during play in the classroom.
• Explore play as a vehicle for support and intervention.
• Examine the classroom environment and the role of the educator in creating supportive spaces and practices for young learners to begin to move through the cycle of their emotions and responses.

Audience: PreK to Grade 3 Teachers, Early Childhood Educators, and School Teams (Administrators, Student Support Teachers, School Counsellors, Educational Assistants)

Location: STF – Arbos Centre for Learning, McDowell Conference Room, 2311 Arlington Ave, Saskatoon, SK

Registration closes 2 business days prior to the workshop. Payment must accompany registration. The refund deadline for all workshops and events is 10 business days prior to the start date. Registrants who withdraw prior to the refund deadline are entitled to a full refund or transfer of their registration fee.
