Appeals

A member who chooses to appeal the guilty finding of an STF Ethics and Practice Committee and/or the penalty of the STF Executive must do so through The Court of Appeal for Saskatchewan in accordance with the timelines and other criteria that are set out in applicable legislation. Legal fees or other costs associated with this process are the member’s responsibility unless the court orders otherwise.

The Court of Appeal may uphold or overturn the Executive’s  penalty order or recommendation. It may also refer the matter back to the disciplinary committee for a new hearing.

Public notice of the guilty finding and penalty is on hold until the teacher’s right of appeal is exhausted. The teacher has 30 days to appeal the Federation’s finding and penalty.
