Talking Drawings

Talking Drawings

Purpose:

Assessing and Reflecting

Overview:

Learners create and reflect on visual representations of their understanding of a topic pre- and post-learning.

Procedure:

  1. Before a lesson, invite learners to visualize the topic for contemplation and draw a picture to show what they visualized.
  2. Teach the lesson.
  3. Ask learners to create a new drawing that incorporates what they learned about the topic during the lesson.
  4. Invite learners to share their before and after drawings with a partner and discuss the differences between the two depictions. What do the two drawings tell them about what they learned during the lesson?
