You’re Required To Apply for the Saskatchewan Special Support Program
The Special Support Program, through Saskatchewan Health, is an income-tested program that helps residents with high drug costs in relation to their income. Applicants receive a deductible and/or a co-payment on their prescription drugs each calendar year.
The Members’ Health Plan, like most health plans, is designed to cover the portion of prescription drugs that isn’t covered under a provincial drug program. This helps keep costs in the Plan lower by utilizing drug coverage provided by the Saskatchewan government.
If you receive a letter from GreenShield advising that you need to apply for the SSP, follow the steps below to avoid the suspension of your prescription drug benefits:
- Complete the SSP application and email, mail or fax it to the Saskatchewan Drug Plan’s Special Support Program.
- When you receive your notification letter from the Ministry of Health, follow the instructions provided in the letter you received from GreenShield.
Failure to apply for the SSP will result in your prescription drug benefits being suspended, so it’s important to apply as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact GreenShield.
