International Languages Curricula Piloting Opportunities in 2021-22

Please work with your school division or First Nations education authority to request a nomination for this opportunity.

The following international language curricula are under renewal and will be piloted during the second semester of the 2021-22 school year:

  • German 10, 20, 30;
  • Mandarin 10, 20, 30; and,
  • Spanish 10, 20, 30.

The Ministry of Education invites school divisions and First Nations education authorities to nominate teachers to pilot these curricula. Pilot teachers will also evaluate and recommend resources. The initial meeting is scheduled for February 2022 and will be held virtually.

The Ministry of Education will reimburse substitute teacher costs for one pilot teacher per school division and First Nations education authority. School divisions and First Nations education authorities are welcome to nominate other teachers at their own expense. Note that teachers should not submit nominations themselves.

This work aligns with Inspiring Success: First Nations and Métis PreK-12 Education Policy Framework, in which the Ministry of Education commits to work collaboratively with all educational partners to strengthen relationships and achieve an equitable and inclusive system that benefits all learners.

School divisions and First Nations education authorities are invited to submit their nominations by December 17, 2021.
