Teachers’ Group Life Insurance Plan

(Mandatory)

All Saskatchewan teachers employed on a continuing or replacement contract, or a temporary contract of at least 20 full or partial teaching days are automatically covered under the mandatory Teachers’ Group Life Insurance Plan. The life insurance coverage provided is equal to twice the maximum salary for Class VI, rounded to the next one thousand dollars. An equal amount of coverage for accidental death and dismemberment is also provided.

The provincial government pays one half of the premiums for this benefit, with teachers paying the other half through deductions from their pay. Benefit changes are negotiated as part of the Provincial Collective Bargaining Agreement.
