AB Each Teach

Purpose:

Interacting with Text

Additional Purpose(s):

Facilitating Dialogue

Overview:

This process provides practice in determining key ideas from text and sharing these with a partner.

Procedure:

  1. In pairs, partner A reads one section of text and partner B reads another section of text.
  2. When both are ready, they teach the key points from their section to their partner.

Variations:

  • To conclude, have pairs develop a summary of the text.
  • Have learners work in groups of three or four. Each one takes a section of the text, reads it, and teaches the key points from their section to the group.
