Overview:

Creating twitter summaries provides practice in summarizing using the character limitations of a tweet.

Procedure:

1. Challenge learners to work on their own or with a partner to summarize a chapter or short text in 280 characters or less. 
2. Provide an opportunity for learners to share their tweets.  

Variations:

A twitter summary of 280 characters or less could be used as an exit slip.
