Codes and Standards

As of October 19, 2015, Saskatchewan teachers are subject to the provisions of The Registered Teachers Act and the requirements and processes for certification, registration and discipline of the Saskatchewan Professional Teachers Regulatory Board (SPTRB).

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation continues to have a legislated mandate (i.e., Part VI and VII of The Teachers’ Federation Act, 2006) to ensure that its members maintain a high standard of professional conduct and teaching practice. To carry out this important responsibility, Council has approved, in the form of STF bylaws, the:

Code of Professional Ethics

Standards of Practice

Code of Collective Interests

As well, various STF policies developed by teachers and adopted by Council have been designed to express the teaching profession’s understandings about what it means to be a teacher in Saskatchewan:

Teacher Success

Principalship Success

Teacher Supervision and Evaluation

Professional Growth

These bylaws and policies also guide or inform the work of the disciplinary committees that have been established to hear formal complaints against Federation members and demonstrate the profession’s accountability to the public.
